Food, of course, is necessary to live. It provides us not only for the energy to do the things we love, but it’s what keeps our heart beating, our oxygen flowing, our brain communicating.
However, as humans, we have a much more complicated relationship with food than that of our animal friends. We don’t need to eat solely for sustenance and survival. We can also eat for pleasure, not just to fuel our bodies.
When you think of people who solely eat for fuel, you might picture the stereotypical body builder, carrying around Tupperware of brown rice, grilled chicken, and steamed broccoli. But eating a healthy diet doesn’t have to be boring, or devoid of joy.
If you’re someone who loves to meal prep, try a new recipe. Pick a flavour pallete you enjoy, maybe Asian-style, spicy, or hearty-sauces, and go from there. Or, head to your local farmer’s market and try some seasonal vegetables to mix things up. Eating food that tastes good and is healthy for you doesn’t have to be complicated!
